Fire Prevention Week is always the 2nd weekend of October. During Fire Prevention week the Bureau and the Fire Companies team up educate Students & Seniors how to prevent fires & teach what actions to take if they have a fire such as Get out & Stay out and calling 9-1-1 for Emergencies.
The Fire Marshal is part-time and responsible for the operation of the Bureau of Fire Protection. The mission of this bureau is to prevent fires by conducting annual Fire Safety
Inspections required by the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code. The bureau conducts educational lectures on Fire Prevention and has fire prevention information for township Residents. The bureau inspects all businesses, schools, and places of assemblies for fire code compliance. The bureau also inspect homes for sale/rent to ensure that smoke alarms, Carbon Monoxide detectors , and fire extinguishers are installed as required by fire code.

All home owners MUST comply with Township Ordinance # 03-2005, Building Numbering Ordinance.
Numbers shall be reflective Arabic numerals, 3 ½ inches in height, and mounted in a secure fashion to 3 sides of post as required.
The owner shall affix the numbers required by this ordinance upon a post composed of treated wood or plastic. The post shall be white in color.
The post shall measure four inches by four inches by six feet (4”x4”x6’) all post shall be inserted into the ground at least 24 inches and at least 48 inches above ground. The post shall be installed no less than 4 feet and no more that 12 feet from the edge of the roadway and no less than 2 feet and no more than 3 feet from the building side of the Driveway. The building numbers are to be placed 2 inches from the top of post, on at least 3 side of post. All post shall be free from obstruction.
The number shall also be installed at the main/front entrance of the building (entrance that faces the street) these numbers shall be no less than 6 inches and shall be contrasting with building finish.
